correct posture in chair

Simple rules to avoid some of the common problems associated with working at a computer:

  • Your monitor and keyboard should be placed directly in front of you.
  • Support your hands and wrists properly to keep them aligned.
  • Set up your monitor in such a way that the screen is an arms length far from you and the toolbars are at eye level.
  • Avoid constantly looking down by using a hard copyholder
  • Zoom in to enlarge the text instead of leaning on the screen and get your eyes tested.
  • The mouse should be kept near but with some space to move it freely.
  • Your elbows should be vertical under your shoulders and close to the sides of your body, or on an armrest.
  • The feet should be flat on the floor and your knees slightly below your hips.
  • Ensure that there is adequate space between the back of your knees and the edge of the chair—approximately the width of three fingers—to allow free movements of legs.
  •  Avoid crossing your legs under your desk as this results in a poor hip position.
