LIFTING A LONG LOAD
POINTS TO REMEMBER:
- Make an assessment of the weight first.
- If it is too heavy than ask for help without hesitation but
never try to carry alone hurting your back.
- If there is no one to catch the other end and the weight of
the load is not so heavy than carry the load by following proper steps.
- If it is possible to carry alone, then squat down with your
legs astride one end of the load.
- Keep your legs in a line or put one in front of the other.
- Don’t lean forward, and try to keep your back straight
throughout.
HOW TO CARRY A LONG LOAD ?
- Squat down keeping one end of the load in between your feet.
Slide both the hands underneath the load and take a firm grip.
- Raising the end nearest to you, tilt it away from your body
until the load gets balanced upright on the other end. Step forward if required.
- Move your hand below the end of the load and bring the end
close to your body, such that the load rest against your shoulder.
- Keep the load vertical and, grip it firmly, try to stand up
slowly, keeping your back straight.
